Last week, I was nominated for the Stylish Blogger Award by the lovely and talented author Tess Hardwick. I can't thank her enough for the endorsement and kind words. I highly recommend you check out Tess's blog and her debut novel Riversong, which has been receiving well-deserved rave reviews.
The Stylish Blogger Awards are a fun way to introduce people to fellow bloggers and writers who have something special to share with the world. Here are the rules:
- Thank and link to the person who nominated you.
- Share seven random facts about yourself.
- Pass the award along to 5 new-found blogging buddies.
- Contact the winners to congratulate them.
Seven random facts about me:
- I work at a standing desk and only sit to work an hour or two a week.
- One of my favorite snacks is cottage cheese with green olives.
- Books I've read at least three times: Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck), Frankenstein (Mary Shelley), Ragtime (E.L. Doctorow), On Writing (Stephen King)
- Books I've read at least a dozen times: A Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens), The Velveteen Rabbit (Margery Williams)
- I was a ballerina in middle and high school, but I ultimately chose the more practical career path of becoming a writer (Sarcasm? Yeah, just a little. ☺).
- I'm borderline obsessive when it comes to editing and revising; even my tweets typically go through two or three drafts before they're posted.
- A box of Hostess Ding Dongs lasts roughly 1.5 days in my household.
My five nominees for the Stylish Blogger Award are:
Jolina Petersheim This Southern belle will charm you to the core. She blogs about life, its ups and its downs, with honesty, humor and a clever flair for drawing out the reader's emotion. I keep my Kleenex box handy when I visit her blog, since her posts often bring me to tears (of joy, of sorrow, of laughter and, sometimes, even all three). Follow her on Twitter: @Jolina_Joy
Melissa Crytzer Fry This is a writer to watch. Her blog combines her love of nature, her enthusiasm for writing, and her passion for sharing both with others. She is not only a talented writer and photographer, but also a supportive friend in the writing community. It is only a matter of time before you'll see her novels in a bookstore near you. Follow her on Twitter: @CrytzerFry
Sarah McCoy You must get to know the talented novelist of The Day It Snowed in Puerto Rico and forthcoming The Baker's Daughter. I discovered her on Twitter, and I'm so glad I did. She is sweet, funny and super talented. I especially love her Thursday Tea Party blog posts, in which she shares what new book she is reading and what unique brew she is sipping. Follow her on Twitter: @SarahMMcCoy
Hope Clark This lady does it all. Hope is the founder of Funds for Writers, a successful freelance writer, and author of a mystery novel series forthcoming from Bell Bridge Books. She is a treasure trove of wisdom and no-nonsense advice, whether she's writing about finding writing grants, raising happy chickens, keeping up with publishing trends or sustaining your passions.
